James Plunkett's priorities for Ward 3 — grounded in real experience and a commitment to the residents who need representation most.

Safe Streets & Infrastructure

"Roads and sidewalks that work for everyone — not just those with connections."

As a truck driver, James has spent years navigating Ward 3's roads firsthand. He knows which intersections are dangerous, which sidewalks are crumbling, and which repairs have been promised and never delivered.

James will push for a transparent infrastructure audit of Ward 3, prioritizing repairs based on safety and resident need — not political favour. He'll advocate for proper crosswalks, accessible sidewalks, and road maintenance that serves everyday commuters and families.

James's Commitments

  • Annual public infrastructure report for Ward 3
  • Prioritize pedestrian safety at high-risk intersections
  • Accessible sidewalks for seniors and mobility-impaired residents
  • Faster response times for pothole and road repair requests

Affordable Housing

"Keeping Bothwell affordable for working families and lower-income residents."

James has seen firsthand how rising costs are pushing long-term residents out of the community they've called home for decades. He believes city hall has a responsibility to protect affordability — not just attract developers.

James will advocate for mixed-income housing development, oppose rezoning that displaces existing residents without community benefit, and push for stronger tenant protections at the municipal level.

James's Commitments

  • Support mixed-income development in Ward 3
  • Oppose displacement-driven rezoning without community consultation
  • Advocate for stronger tenant protections
  • Work with regional partners on affordable housing targets

Via Rail Stop

"Connecting Bothwell to the broader region with a dedicated Via Rail stop."

Ward 3 residents deserve real transit options. A dedicated Via Rail stop in Bothwell would reduce commute times, lower transportation costs for working families, and connect our community to jobs and services across the region.

James will make the Via Rail stop a top advocacy priority at council — working with provincial and federal partners to make the case for Bothwell's inclusion in the rail network. This is about giving residents a real alternative to car dependency.

James's Commitments

  • Formally advocate for a Bothwell Via Rail stop at council
  • Engage provincial and federal transit partners
  • Commission a community transit needs assessment
  • Explore interim regional transit connections

A Voice for the Average Joe

"City hall should work for everyone — especially those who are usually ignored."

James's entire campaign is built on one idea: the people who most need representation at city hall are the ones who least often get it. Lower-income residents, working families, and everyday Bothwell neighbours deserve a councillor who actually listens.

With a background in conflict resolution, online leadership, and community organizing, James brings real skills to the council table — and a commitment to transparent, accessible governance that keeps residents informed and involved.

James's Commitments

  • Regular open office hours in Ward 3
  • Plain-language updates on all council decisions affecting Ward 3
  • Community consultation before any major rezoning or development
  • Accessible, responsive communication for all residents
