A 42-year-old Bothwell resident, truck driver, and community leader — running to give Ward 3's working families a real voice at city hall.
James Plunkett
Ward 3 Councillor Candidate
James Plunkett is a 42-year-old Bothwell resident who has called Ward 3 home for over 11 years. Born and raised in Keswick, just north of Toronto, James grew up in a working-class community that gave him a deep understanding of what everyday families need from their local government.
James built his career as an AZ truck driver — spending years on Ward 3's roads and developing firsthand knowledge of the infrastructure challenges residents face daily. During the pandemic, he became a truck driving instructor, mentoring new drivers and demonstrating the leadership skills he now brings to his campaign.
Throughout the years, James has taken on numerous online leadership roles, gaining experience in alliance-building, recruitment, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. These aren't just buzzwords — they're skills he's put to work in real communities, and skills Ward 3 needs at the council table.
James ran as the Green Party Candidate in April 2025. His campaign is built on one core belief: city hall should work for everyone — especially those with lower incomes who too often go unheard. He plans to be the voice of the "average joe" and the voiceless in Ward 3.
Keswick, Ontario
James grew up in Keswick, just north of Toronto — a working-class community that shaped his values and his understanding of what everyday families need from their local government.
AZ Truck Driver & Instructor
James built a career as a long-haul AZ truck driver, developing deep knowledge of Ward 3's roads and infrastructure. During the pandemic, he became a truck driving instructor, mentoring new drivers entering the workforce.
Bothwell Resident
James has called Bothwell home for over 11 years. He knows his neighbours, the local issues, and the gaps in representation that have left too many Ward 3 residents without a real voice at city hall.
Green Party Candidate
James ran as the Green Party Candidate in April 2025, building a grassroots campaign focused on giving lower-income residents and working families a seat at the table.
James's core mission is simple: represent the people city hall usually ignores — lower-income residents, working families, and everyday Bothwell neighbours.
As a truck driver and instructor, James brings practical, on-the-ground knowledge of Ward 3's infrastructure challenges — not just talking points.
Through years of online leadership roles, James has developed skills in alliance-building, recruitment, problem-solving, and conflict resolution that he'll bring to council.
Eleven years as a Bothwell resident means James understands the community's needs from the inside — not as an outsider looking in.
